We can’t wait to see what the heck the 659cc Superquadro Mono by Ducati can pull off. But for now, let us hit you with the Fast Facts.

This is the first time this engine is making an appearance. When Ducati announced that they were creating a single-cylinder engine derived from the massive 1299cc Superquadro V-twin found in the Panigale, people definitely raised an eyebrow or two. And why not? This baby churns out a mind-boggling 78 horsepower at 9750 rpm and 46 ft-lbs of torque at 8000 rpm. Plus, it has a redline at a whopping 10,250 rpm! These numbers are sky-high for this engine class, my friends. We’ve gone through all the technical details about this new desmodromic-valve single over here in case you’re interested.

But here’s the kicker – if you want even more power, there’s a race-only Termignoni exhaust that can push the peak horsepower up to a wild 85 horses. This lightweight engine is practically begging to pop wheelies, do some fancy backing it in, and indulge in all the shenanigans that supermoto is famous for. Get ready for some two-wheeled debauchery, folks!

The 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is a featherweight in the supermoto class. Weighing in at just 352 pounds with a full tank of fuel, this bike is all about that power-to-weight ratio. And get this, it’s a whopping 84 pounds lighter than its big brother, the Hypermotard 950 SP V-twin. Talk about shedding some serious pounds! With its spartan design, the 698 Mono features a lightweight steel-trellis frame and an aluminum swingarm. Oh, and did we mention it’s got just one cylinder? Who needs more when you’ve got all that weight savings?

Supermoto ergonomics are no joke. Picture yourself on a dirt bike, navigating a racecourse with skill and finesse. The long, thin, tall saddle gives you plenty of room to maneuver, unlike those tiny playground jungle gyms. And don’t get me started on the handlebars – they’re adjustable thanks to those wacky U-bolts, so you can find the perfect position for your wild rides. Whether you prefer to keep your knees down or stick a leg out, a supermoto has got your back. It lifts you up high, raises that center of gravity, and gives you some serious control over the bike. And hey, don’t forget about those fancy footpegs. They’re designed for those crazy lean angles and even have removable rubber inserts for extra grip. So strap on those racing boots and get ready to conquer the road with style and confidence.

The suspension duties are taken care of by a fully adjustable 45mm USD Marzocchi fork and Sachs shock. It has enough travel to handle bumps and jumps, with 8.5 inches in the front and 9.4 inches in the rear. And to add to its appeal in the lightweight supermoto class, the fork weighs less than 18 pounds.

The 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono takes the lead with its impressive IMU-supported electronics. Unlike other factory supermotos, this bike offers an array of electronic rider aids that are derived from the Panigale V4 superbike platform. With four ride modes to choose from and features like cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake modes, and launch control settings, Ducati has truly outdone themselves. The RVE model even comes standard with an up/down quickshifter, while the base bike offers it as an optional upgrade. And let’s not forget about Ducati’s slide-by-brake feature that assists riders in learning to back it in. For those experienced supermoto riders, they’ll be pleased to know that the rear ABS can be disabled completely. In terms of simplicity, the Hypermotard 698 Mono opts for an old-school 3.8-inch LCD instrument panel.

The Wheelie Assist feature is definitely worth checking out. We all know that wheelie control is great for keeping those unwanted wheelies in check, but Wheelie Assist takes things in the opposite direction. This new track-only feature from Ducati actually helps you maintain those awesome sustained wheelies by keeping an eye on the bike’s angle and adjusting the engine torque accordingly. It’s like having your own personal wheelie coach! Just keep in mind that you can only unlock this feature if you have the closed-course Termignoni Ducati Performance exhaust. So yeah, it’s definitely not meant for your daily commute. But hey, if you’re into supermoto and all things cool about motorcycles, having more riders dabbling in wheelies can only mean good things. Let the wheelie madness continue!

The braking on this bad boy is handled by the one and only Brembo. They’ve slapped a massive 330mm rotor onto the front wheel, and it’s supported by a single M4.32 caliper that’s ready to do some heavy lifting. And because this bike is as lightweight as it gets, that one Brembo caliper is more than enough to make it stop on a dime, especially when it’s paired with the Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires that have the grip of a sneaky ninja. As for the rear, there’s a 240mm disc and a single-piston caliper, just in case you want to play around with some slick slides.
